The Vicuña – known, since ancient times, as the “Princess of the Andes”, thanks to its elegance and noble qualities – lives in the Upper Andes, at an altitude between 3500 and 5000 metres, on the plateau between Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
It is a protected species and there are only a few examples. What is more, an adult can only produce up to 250 grams of fibre in a year, which explains why it is so highly prized.
Vicuña staple and tops are worked in their pure version as well as mixed with cashmere.
